The Mayfair community consists of townhouses and condominiums along with a number of traditional brick single-family homes. Those living on the east side of town have access to a wide range of shopping opportunities and excellent restaurants. If you live on the western edge of the neighborhood, you can take your pup out to Mayfair Park for a walk. Mayfair has an incredible range of restaurants to choose from including Peruvian, Korean, and Middle Eastern fare from which to choose.
The neighborhood is known for its friendly attitudes and laid-back air. The residential streets are shady with plenty of grass for your pup's use. There are dog-friendly parks within driving distance and several pet stores and groomers in the area for you to choose from for your pet's needs and care. The climate here is much like the rest of Chicago, sweltering in the summer and frigid in the winter, so be prepared before going out.
What can you say about the flat terrain in Mayfair that hasn't already been said about most of the Midwest? In fact, there is a song by 'The Who' that goes "I can see for miles and miles" which could only have been written about the area around Chicago. While this might not be the best area for strenuous exercise, it can be an excellent way for you and your pup to get in a daily stroll, especially if Rover has put on few extra pounds over the years. Of course, you are only a few short blocks away from the shores of Lake Michigan if you and your pup want to take on the challenges of the 7-mile-long park and numerous parks along the way. Keep varying your walks on a daily basis to make them fun for both of you and take the boredom out of your daily routine!
Mayfair is like many of the other communities in the area. The streets are lined with plenty of shady trees to keep you protected from the sun on your outings. Most have grassy strips between the sidewalks and streets which give your pup a cooler place to walk on and somewhere to pee along the way. In the southwest corner of the community is Mayfair Park where you and your pup can spend hours wandering around this 2.5-acre park. You can even sneak Rover through the water spray area to cool him off if you are careful about it.
Just to the north is Gompers Park and the LaBagh Woods, both of which offer lots of grass, trees, and trails for you and your pup to tackle. These both make a great place for the two of you to get in some serious play and exercise time while surrounded by a wealth of nature.
