Springwood Manor is a beautiful neighborhood in the far south region of Western Springs. Although this area does not have much to choose from when it comes to pet grooming, training, or supplies, they do have a good amount of pet hospitals and vets. This is a great relief to the pet owners in the area that have the comfort of knowing that if any type of emergency does occur, their pets will be in safe hands. Some of the best pet hospitals in the area include the Animal Hospital of Western Springs and Boone Animal Hospital. There are also two great pet supply stores in the area as well as one or two grooming spots to visit.

Western Springs can get fairly cold in January, but the rest of the year is more moderate in temperature. Keep a jacket on hand for the winter months and an umbrella for the occasional rainy day.

Given the location of this neighborhood so close to Western Springs, it is bound to be flat. However, there are some slight hills in the neighborhood and on the trails of local parks if you are willing to do some searching. Luckily, the flat terrain tends to be a great help in extending your dog walks across larger distances. The lack of effort needed for these trails and sidewalks makes it easy to walk to your favorite park or some of the beautiful city views without overheating you or your pet.

The area would be expected to be very artificial as well, given it's location so close to a big city. However, the area is surprisingly green due to the loyalty of the neighborhood to maintaining beautiful sidewalks and yards. The loyalty of the county to maintaining beautiful parks also helps bring this area from artificial to a little bit more natural.

One of the most beautiful locations in this area is the La Grange Country Club. Although it will cost you a bit, with a beautiful pool, golf course, and so much more, it is more than worth it. However, for a more laid back daily dog walking experience, there are several great options as well. Some of these parks are traditional neighborhood parks such as Springdale Park, Ridgewood Park, and Pierce Park. Some of these parks also have special attractions like water access, or fully equipped playgrounds and sports fields.

Finally, some of these parks are completely unique. One example of this is Katherine Legge Memorial Park which features a beautiful English structure from 1927, a playground, sports areas, and a full disk golf course. Another great example is Spring Rock Park. This 40-acre park features a playground, athletic fields, lit tennis courts, picnic areas with barbecue pits, and several flower gardens.
