My name is Barrett, and I have worked with animals for several years and have had pets my entire life. I also have work experience in pet nutrition. I can't think of anything more fun than spending time with animals and walking outside because it combines two of my favorite things. I know you, your pet, and I will get along great!
I have cared for all dogs, extra small to extra large and I adore them all! I have more than 10 years of experience caring for canines and my love for them has grown with every passing year. I have my own 2 year old German shepherd/lab mix who I love with all my heart, adopted from the shelter. I aim to give you and your dog the best experience I can. I hope you choose me as your next WAG! walker!

Youngsville, Louisiana is a city located in Lafayette Parish. Settled in the early 19th century by French farmers, the town was originally known as “Royville.” The name change only came once the postal service requested that the town’s leaders pick something different, as Royville kept getting mixed up with the nearby Rayville. Since the village was relatively new, the leaders decided to go with the current name, Youngsville. Youngsville is still a relatively rural area, and a lot of farmers still use the area to grow sugarcane.
If you’re a dog owner looking for dog-friendly activities in Youngsville, you’ll need to be willing to travel just a bit. Youngsville has one dog-friendly restaurant, and there are no dog parks located in the city. There is a veterinarian clinic in Youngsville, though, so if you need quick and convenient care for your sick or injured furry family member, you won’t have to go too far. You won’t have to travel too far for more dog-friendly activities, either. The larger city of Lafayette is just up the road, and its size means it has plenty to offer you and your four-legged friend. Youngsville is a beautiful area with a rich history, so come visit!
The heart of Youngsville is home to the dog-friendly Hook’d Up Bar and Grill. This restaurant has six dog-friendly patio tables. No matter what type of food you’re in the mood for, Hook’d Up will have you hooked! Want a burger or po’boy? They’ll hook you up! If you’re in the mood for Mexican, the tacos are pawsitively delectable. Fido must be on his best behavior while you’re chowing down, and he also needs to stay on a leash at all times; you wouldn’t want him trying to be a chow-hound at the next table over.
Looking for more dog-friendly dining? Head ten miles north to Lafayette’s River Ranch neighborhood. If you’re not wanting anything too heavy, visit The Lab! With a name like that, of course it’s dog-friendly. This laid-back café has mouthwatering pastries and several types of coffee. The Lab has ten dog-friendly patio tables. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more filling, head over to Romacelli Bistro e Vino. Not only does this restaurant serve Italian dishes, but they also have Cajun and Mediterranean options. Patio tables are dog friendly. A leash is required at both restaurants. Bone Appetit!
If you don’t mind a 15-minute drive to Lafayette, head to Lafayette Dog Park at Young Park! This off-leash dog park is fully fenced in, allowing your dog to get in some exercise and burn off any pent-up energy. Water is provided by the dog park, so you don’t have to worry about your dog getting overheated in the Louisiana humidity. For adventurous dogs, the park offers agility equipment. If you prefer taking your dog to play at night, the park has plenty of lighting. Locals love welcoming new people to the park, so come on by!
On the furthest side of Lafayette from Youngsville, you and Fido can go visit Brown Memorial Dog Park. It’s about 15 miles from Youngsville. This off-leash dog park is located in Brown Memorial Park, but don’t be fooled; it’s still a very spacious bark park! Lush, green grass is maintained in the park so that your dog doesn’t have to deal with artificial turf or mulch. The park provides water and waste bags for you to use. Shaded benches are provided for dog moms and dads. There’s also a one-mile trail that wraps around the park, so you can get some exercise, too.
Want to check out a new dog park with your canine companion? Head over to City Park in New Iberia, which is about 14 miles from Youngsville. Raising Cane’s Dog Park at New Iberia City Park – what a mouthful – is a new bark park that locals are already loving! Raising Cane’s spans one acre, and there are two separate sections to the park. One section is for small dogs, and the other section is for large dogs. A waste station is located in the park so that you can clean up after your pooch. Make sure to bring along water for your dog.
