West Cambridge is located, as the name implies, in the western section of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The subsection of Huron Village is in the northwest section of the neighborhood and contains several shops and restaurants at the intersection of Huron Avenue and Concord Avenue. Although most of West Cambridge is residential, the unique shops and eateries in the area are reachable on foot for most locals. There is also a hospital on the south side of West Cambridge where some area residents are employed and can walk to work.

Check the weather forecast and dress for conditions while traveling this neighborhood on foot. Cambridge gets more than its fair share of precipitation due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Winters can be cold and because of the high precipitation, snow is common and sometimes plentiful. Winter boots and a warm coat are in order when taking your pup for a daily walk during the winter season.

Huron Village is located on the northwest side where Fresh Pond and the Fish Pond Park Reserve are also located. The entire neighborhood of West Cambridge, including Huron Village, is lush with green landscaping, huge trees, ornamental shrubs, and the surrounding natural areas give the area a rural village feel. On hot summer days, the trees shade walkways and on cold winter days, trees and landscaping can act as a windbreak for pedestrians. The terrain is hilly, although most slopes have gentle inclines and no abrupt elevation changes. Pedestrians walking their pet in the area will experience some climbs but they do not usually hamper walking the neighborhood. Along the south border of West Cambridge is the Charles River with a hospital and high rise apartments also located in the region. Most of the neighborhood consists of beautiful single-family historic homes. Some of these homes are very large and have large well-landscaped properties.
