Wilmore is a small residential neighborhood located in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is only two miles slightly southwest of the downtown area. Charlotte is a fast-growing city, both in size and reputation, and is located on the North Carolina-South Carolina border. This southern city, also known as Queen City, is home to popular attractions like the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Discovery Place Science Center, the U.S. National Whitewater Center, and a local amusement park. Charlotte also has several universities, concert and performing arts venues, and professional sports teams.

Wilmore, as a residential community, is composed of both standalone, single-family homes and smaller, older apartment complexes. Commercially, there are a few local and chain restaurants on the southern side of the neighborhood including a traditional soda shop. Residents also have access to a local brewery, a contemporary art gallery, access to public transportation, and a tattoo parlor.

As it is only two miles from the city center of Charlotte, Wilmore has artificial terrain. Thankfully, the three larger parks and the many large, mature trees throughout the residential community help residents and visitors. However, the benefit of being in the suburbs is the well-maintained sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. Many streets only have sidewalks on one side of the road, but you and Fido should be safe from sharing roadways with any oncoming traffic.

Wilmore is also a relatively hilly neighborhood, just like the rest of the greater Charlotte area, so you and your pup will experience significant changes in elevation throughout Wilmore and many other Charlotte neighborhoods.

The borders of Wilmore include South Clarkson Street to the north, West Summit Avenue to the east, Camden Road, West Tremont Avenue, and Toomey Avenue to the south, and Remount Road, Barringer Drive, and Bill Lee Freeway to the west.

The first greenway in Wilmore is Revolution Park located on the northwest border of the neighborhood. This 22-acre public park is home to a playground, several sports fields and courts, and a reservable picnicking area. While there is no dog-run, you and your pup are still welcome to walk around and enjoy the sights and smells! The second public park in the neighborhood is Abbott Park. This 6-acre park has several sports fields and courts, a picnicking area, and a large field for general recreation.

Finally, the third park in Wilmore is Wilmore Park, the smallest of the three greenways. This 1.2-acre park has a few benches and small playground for local children to enjoy.
