Although this area is usually pretty moderate, hotter summer months may require some caution as the temperature can easily get up and into the 90s in the height of the warmer seasons. Rain may occur, but only rarely, so keep an eye on the forecast and take an umbrella with you if necessary to keep you warm and dry.
This area is also mostly artificial. Although there are some parks and greenways, most of them are man-made and surrounded by houses or buildings. Although this is, again, not ideal for serious nature enthusiasts, it can be a great place for anyone who is more accustomed to an urban or suburban environment.
Another great and more traditional option in this area is Baker's Creek Park. This park offers covered picnic tables, basketball and tennis courts, a creek, a playground, and even mini golf.
A few final great options are Veterans Park, featuring a huge memorial for fallen veterans, as well as Walter M. Safrit Park which features walking and biking trails, picnic areas, and several large green fields that your dog will love running around in.
