Jordantown is a residential suburban community in Merchantville, New Jersey. Located just east of the Pennsauken Township region and Wellwood neighborhoods, the community has a commercial corridor located on its eastern side along Haddonfield Road where locals can walk to restaurants, shops, and services in their neighborhood. There are also three local schools for residents with families, providing schooling in the neighborhood and sports facilities and fields associated with the school properties.

Residents that walk with their dogs in Jordantown will find that summers can be both hot and humid with muggy conditions that can make walking difficult in the heat of the day. Walking with your pup at different times of the day to avoid the heat is a good idea to avoid dehydration, especially if you have a long-haired dog. Winters are damp too, but cold, with some freezing temperatures, rain, sleet, and sometimes even snow to contend with. Dress warm and avoid stormy winter weather.

The Jordantown community is bordered by a train track on the western edge and a major freeway on the northern border. An industrial area is located on the northwest corner and these areas are not pedestrian-friendly regions to take your dog for a walk with hazards like traffic, noise, and trains traveling at high speeds. The Pennsauken Country club is situated on the southeast corner and most of the area consists of single-family homes with lawns, trees, gardens, and landscaping on properties. Residential areas have sidewalks and grass berms separating pedestrians from streets and providing cool, soft, footing for puppy paws on hikes through the community.

The area is mostly flat with some gentle inclines and curving roads that are easy to navigate. This developed residential area has lots of shade trees and greenery in summer to keep residents and their pets cool as well as parks and schools with open green spaces to enjoy.

The Bow Wow Dog Park is located right in the neighborhood between the elementary school and the train tracks. This park has separate off-leash play areas for small and large dogs. Your dog can play safely with other local canines in an enclosed area. This is a great place to play fetch or just let your dog have some 'free' time.

The Merchantville Bike Path runs east-west through the southern border of Jordantown and residents that enjoy cycling with their dogs can travel through the community and visit adjacent neighborhoods served by this greenway. If you have a dog with a lot of energy, this is a great way to burn off some of that extra zip.

Other local parks include Stockton Park and Collins Tract Park. These green areas have paved pedestrian paths around them, so keep your dog on a leash and off playground areas in order to fully enjoy the walking trails!
