Be aware, however, that winters can be cold and snowy, although Teaneck's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean greatly moderates the snow and winter temperatures. Have a warm jacket and good footwear available for daily walks during the winter season. Spring can be rainy in this climate and an umbrella is usually advisable during this season when you venture out with your pooch. Summers are hot and humid and prone to thunderstorms. Autumn tends to be dry and sunny with beautiful autumn colors, so enjoy this ideal walking weather.
There are several schools and churches in the area as well as a university on the far west side with landscaped properties. The district is hilly and pedestrians strolling with their pooches will need to navigate some steep inclines. If you or your dog has mobility issues, you may need to adjust your route to avoid some of the more strenuous hills.
