“For the love of dogs!”

Proper care of animals has always been a huge priority of mine! I always had a family dog growing up and now have three big dogs with my husband! Those dogs are our world and we know your dog is yours! We know how hard it can be to balance yours and your pet's needs with all the challenges life brings, so I love the idea of being able to help make it a little easier!

“Dog Whisperer”

Growing up in Albuquerque we always had chihuahuas, dachshunds, and pit bulls running around the house. In the past I have also fostered huskies, ensuring they went to only the best of homes.. even if that meant driving 8hrs to their new forever home! I’m strong and can handle the more rambunctious types but also enjoy strolls with the smaller guys. I feel most dogs quickly warmed up to my calm nature, I want them to feel secure and to enjoy their walks only stopping if they decide to.

Walking with Dogs is my passion and creating fun adventures as we go! I love dogs and am a proud owner of two rescues who look like Great Pyrenees and have some Lab features - they are sweet and funny. I have owned a Golden and was raised with a couple of Dachsund's. Our home has dogs, fish, birds and a few lizards -- dogs love to chase the lizards. I am an RN and happy to walk your special needs dogs. I enjoy all breeds. It would be my pleasure to walk your special pooch!

Dog Walking in Placitas

Dogs love Placitas because this town knows how to give dogs what they want: unlimited access to their people. You can bring your dog everywhere, and everywhere you go you’re going to meet dog people. Placitas has one full-time vet, but the surrounding county has many more, as well as animal hospitals and emergency destinations in case of accident or late-night illness.

If you’re looking for a dog-friendly bite, call ahead to Blades’ Bistro. They serve modern European and American food, and have outdoor seating which is dog friendly, but very popular, making a table hard to grab!

If you want less dining and more exploring, try Placitas Trailhead. This climb heads into the forest, and isn’t for beginners. You’re going to want to bring plenty of water for both you and your dog! Keep your pup on leash for his safety, too. This place is gorgeous to hike, but getting lost could be dangerous. If you’re a beginner or moderate hiker, the trip from Placitas Trailhead to Agua Scara Trailhead could be enough for you. If your dog needs more, continue along the path onto Agua Scara, an advanced hike that leads to an amazing view of the surrounding area. Just remember that these paths don’t loop, so whatever goes in has to walk all the way back!

Placitas contains a single neighborhood, simply known as Placitas, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t adventure to be had. The Sandia Man Cave is a great spot to take your dog to for a fun day exploring and hiking. To get to the cave, you need to hike about 10-15 minutes. The cave is easy to access by a spiral staircase, but make sure to bring a flashlight if you plan on going deeper into the cave since there isn’t much light. When inside the cave, your dog needs to stay on leash for his own safety. Make sure to bring plenty of water for everyone, and locals warn that the road leading to the cave is a bumpy drive so be prepared. Known for their hand-crafted dry table wines using their locally grown apricots, peaches, plums, cherries, and other fruit, Anasazi Fields Winery welcomes your dog to enjoy their outdoor patio with you.

Your dog will love exploring the mixture of forest and grassland in this national park, but always be on lookout for the bears and cougars that frequent the forest. Make sure to bring plenty of water for you and your dog since there won’t be any fountains around.

This Rio Rancho neighborhood to the west of Placitas is home to the Mountain View Park and Dog Park. The 20 acres that make up the park are filled with adventure for your pup. Trails and a walking path beckon the sniffers, while the open grassy areas call to the runners. Picnic tables and grills offer a nice place for a meal. Once your pup is ready for socializing, head to the off leash area specifically for dogs. Here, your pup can romp free, but once back in the park, be sure to put on the leash!
