With several million visitors passing through Las Vegas each year, it is no wonder that the city has prepared itself to entertain both its human guests and their beloved four-legged companions. The Las Vegas Parks and Recreation maintain more than 60 parks, 10 of which are dog parks meant specifically for canine visitors to play and mingle.

The Barkin’ Basin Dog Park has two fenced-in areas, one for larger dogs and one for the small but mighty. Grassy fields surround the dog runs, and there is a trail nearby where you and your pup can both get some exercise.

In nearby Boulder City, the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail is a scenic option for joggers and their dogs. The trail was originally created as part of the Hoover Dam railroad system, and it now offers beautiful views of Lake Mead and Boulder Basin. Its wide, paved path makes it an ideal trail for dogs of all ages and sizes.

If you are taking in the sights for a few days, spend the night at one of many dog-friendly hotels in the area. Several large hotels on the Strip offer pet-friendly rooms, and there are more options a slight distance away from the bright lights of Vegas’ nightlife. Check out the Paris Las Vegas, Bally's, or if you're really planning on splurging on Fido, check out the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. Whether you are visiting Las Vegas for the entertainment, the historic sites, or the glamorous hotels, you and your pup are guaranteed to find suitable activities for both of you.

    #1 Calico Basin

The beautiful Calico Basin is home to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a bright red wonderland for pups and people alike! Located just miles off the main strip, Echo Canyon-Fossil Ridge Loop combines hikeable trails with incredible sights. There is parking close to the trail entrance, and dogs can go off leash once on the trail. Keep your eyes open for mountain bikers, and even the occasional horseback rider! Red Rock Canyon is a vast park with campgrounds, a visitor's center and numerous trails perfect for dog-walking. Leashes are required on these trails, which vary in difficulty depending on what kind of outing you're looking for. Remember to bring lots of water when out in the desert, as temperatures can become extreme unexpectedly! This can leave both you and your pooch pretty parched. Even further into the conservation area is White Rock Canyon Wash, a great trail to check out during the fall to spring seasons!

This neighborhood is just minutes from the world famous Las Vegas strip, and it has some special areas just for dogs! Nothing says Vegas like getting hitched at a chapel, and at Wedding Bells Chapel, nobody is too furry for a wedding! Have man's best friend as your best man, or throw your pup a wedding of their own. The Molasky Park Dog Run is a safe space for running and play. Although the park itself can get a bit messy, the fenced-in dog area is well maintained. It's recommended that you visit during daylight hours to be safe. There are gazebo shelters and picnic tables on site, and a children's playground is not far from the dog run. Have fun Vegas style with your hound in Winchester.

Not far away is the Paseo Vista Dog Park, where you can take your pup to burn off steam day or night! There are small and large dog sections, poop bags, and waste bins on site and lights for sundown fun. Dogs in Paradise Valley have some fun ways to play in the Las Vegas sun. Sunset Dog Park keeps things clean with a pawesome rotation through three different areas so that regular maintenance may be done. These areas offer lots of shade, which is hard for pups to come by in the desert! Owners can chill out on the benches and picnic tables scattered in the park. To top it all off, Sunset Dog Park has water spigots on site, a section for small dogs, easy parking and lights for use after dark! If you're looking for a more unique experience with your fur-baby, check out Omni Limousine. You and your pooch are welcome to enjoy a chauffeured tour of the city from the inside of a limo. Treat your canine to this VIP doggy date for $55 per hour.

    #5 Summerlin

    1
There are lots of great parks for you and your pup to discover in Summerlin. Both dogs and their people can have a good time at the Kellogg-Zaher Sports Complex. Let Rover run free inside the fenced-in dog park, which features real green grass (which is quite the commodity in Las Vegas)! The park is very big and has multiple watering spots - perfect for big games of fetch or chase. There are public restrooms on site for the comfort of all two-legged visitors, and poop bags and waste receptacles for those on four. The park doesn't have much shade though, so factor that in when preparing to visit. The Buffalo Sports Park has a fenced-in area for dogs, but owners must supply their own water and doggy dishes.  Fun can be had at either spot as you spend quality time with your favorite pupper!
