Swormville is a small hamlet that is between the larger towns of East Amherst and Clarence, New York. Bordered by two busy roads, Swormville offers a few different locations to walk your dog. It features small shops, Italian restaurants, pubs, and a few different farm and garden centers. There is also a nearby pet supply store that provides plenty of enrichment and meet-and-greet social opportunities for your dog.

The two best outdoor locations for your dog in Swormville are the Amherst Paw Park and the ring road around the Glen Oak Golf Course. Both are within a two-mile walking distance or can be easily accessed by car.

The weather in Swormville is pleasant in the spring and fall. Summers can get humid and hot, so take care that you and your dog are adequately prepared for high temperatures. Winters are often cold and snowy, so warm apparel, such as a heavy jacket, gloves, and boots, are a must.

Swormville features a mixture of older homes, farmhouses, and newer builds along the main artery of Transit Road. The terrain is flat, and while there are sidewalks in front of the shopping areas, there are no sidewalks along other parts of Transit. This road is a 55mph zone, so walking in areas without sidewalks should be done with extreme caution. Make sure that you and the dog are wearing high-visibility gear and walking facing traffic. If you want a quieter walking route, choose any of the roads that are offshoots of Transit for a peaceful walk in the country.

If you're looking for a particularly challenging walk, you may be slightly out of luck in this flatter elevation, but by varying up your walks or venturing down a variety of streets, you can certainly make a walk more interesting and challenging for both you and your athletic canine companion.

Two significant greenways in Swormville are the popular Amherst Paw Park and the walking path around the Glen Oak Golf Course. The park features two fully-fenced sections; one for large dogs and one for smaller breeds. There are multiple areas for visitors to sit and watch the fun as the dogs run around the sizable park. Fresh water, dog toys, and waste bags are always available. The trees in this park are not fully mature and on sunny days, the shade can be limited. Look to one of the covered shelters for a break if needed.

The Glen Oak Golf Course across the street from the Paw Park features a walking trail that borders the entirety of the course. There is plenty of room to walk comfortably and enjoy the quiet path. Because the trail is next to the course, be on the lookout for stray golf balls headed your way and remember to keep your dog securely leashed throughout.
