Kings Point is a large neighborhood located on the north shore of Long Island. It is in Great Neck, New York which was once home to F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of the classic novel, The Great Gatsby. Kings Point has plenty of shoreline along the Manhasset Bay, the Long Island Sound, and Little Neck Bay. Kings Point is largely a residential community with very few commercial spaces. The residential community is typically midsize to large, standalone, single-family homes with expansive lawns. There are also several schools, a yacht club, a cemetery, a few religious centers, and a large park located in this neighborhood. More notably,  however, Kings Point is home to the American Merchant Marine Museum, Kings Point Light, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy, a military academy where incoming officers are trained.

Like much of New York, Kings Point experiences all four seasons with sometimes particularly long, cold, and snowy winters.

At first glance, Kings Point seems to have a good balance of artificial and natural terrain, particularly located next to so many waterways and with a large greenway located within the neighborhood's boundaries. Unfortunately, much of the shoreline is either located within the confines of the United States Merchant Marine Academy or is in the backyard of privately-owned residences, so there is little public access. Kings Point has some undulating hills throughout the neighborhood, so you and your pup are likely to experience various changes in elevation throughout your walk.

The boundaries of Kings Point include Long Island Sound to the north, Manhasset Bay to the east, Hicks Lane, Steamboat Road, and Arrandale Avenue to the south, and Little Neck Bay to the west. Kings Point Road, East Shore Road, Middle Neck Road, and Redbrook Road are major roadways through Kings Point, so pedestrians may wish to avoid them in an effort to avoid heavier traffic.

Thankfully, there are a few greenways in Kings Point for you and your furry friend to enjoy! Kings Point Park, located on the western side of the neighborhood, is the largest greenway in the area. This 175-acre park is home to several sports facilities, a playground, picnicking and grilling areas, general recreation areas, and five miles of hiking trails! Unfortunately, there are no off-leash areas in Kings Point, but your dog is welcome as long as they remain leashed.

Other greenways include Steppingstone Park, Upper Roosevelt Field, and Parkwood Sports Complex. Steppingstone Park has a playground, benches, a pool, access to water recreation, and gardens for you and your pup to explore! Nearby parks within walking distance of the south part of Kings Point include Village Green Park, Memorial Park, Saddle Rock Park, and Allenwood Park. Unfortunately, the closest dog park is located across Little Neck Bay in the Fort Totten area.
