This is a lovely neighborhood to walk through with your dog. The Colonial and Queen Anne homes have lots of adorable architectural details like sweet little front porches, gabled roofs, and brick or stone faces. Walking down these neighborhood streets is very pleasant. Tall, mature trees shade the sidewalk on both sides of the road and there is a good divider between sidewalk and road. Almost no yards have fences so you can enjoy the charming landscaping and walk your dog on a loose leash or enjoy being on wheels with your dog.

If you want a change from neighborhood streets, the attractive Forest Park runs along the entire south perimeter of Forest Hills for extensive forest exploration. To the east, the gorgeous Flushing Meadows Corona Park has a pleasant space around the Willow Lake. The trails that run through this park are a great place to cycle, skateboard, or rollerblade with your dog.

Forest Hills is fortunate enough to rest between two attractive natural areas with more parks nearby. The gorgeous Forest Park runs along the entire south perimeter of Forest Hills and offers acres of exploration with many miles of winding trails to wander.

To the east of Forest Hills, Flushing Meadows Corona Park is another great place to go with your dog. Much of this park is a golf course, but the southern half of the park is a lovely natural grassy area around the charming Willow Lake. This is a great place for your dog to experience water for the first time and you have a chance of seeing some interesting birdlife around the lake.

Further north, you can enjoy the Queens Botanical Garden as well as the Kissena Park. The Queens Zoo is here as well and, while you can’t bring your dog into the zoo, they will enjoy hearing and smelling the exotic animals inside.
