Uptown New York is designated as the area north of 59th street. This area is more residential than Downtown or Lower Manhattan, however, owning and parking a vehicle is difficult on crowded Manhattan Island and many residents rely on public transportation or get around on foot. There are shops and services distributed at street level throughout the neighborhoods of Uptown that residents can reach on foot with their pup.
The weather in New York City is warmer than other areas of New York State due to its coastal location and the moderating effects of the Atlantic Ocean. The area does experience storms, cold weather, and rain which are frequent occurrences in winter. Make sure you dress appropriately for walking in winter. Spring and fall are generally more pleasant for walking. However, rain and storms can still occur and summer can be sweltering and humid, so be prepared for whatever New York weather throws at you.
