Midland Beach is located on the central east coast of Staten Island, one of the five major boroughs of New York City. To its northeastern side, you’ll find the neighborhood of Dongan Hills, the boundary of which is generally set at Sea View Avenue. To the south, you’ll find Dorp and New Dorp Beach while Todt Hill is located to the northwest. The other boundary of Midland Beach is, of course, the sandy coastline of Lower Bay.

If you’re looking for a dog groomer in the area, Lada Doggie’s Day Spa is located on Midland Avenue, close to the beach. On Father Capodanno Boulevard, you’ll find a pet store aptly named 99 Dalmatians. This will provide you with all the food your pooch can handle as well as toys, grooming equipment, and more. For veterinary care, head to the nearby Arrochar for Hylan Animal Hospital. While it’s not within the neighborhood boundaries, it’s the closest available.

Staten Island has an incredibly low-lying coastline and Midland Beach is no exception to this rule. The topography here is entirely flat with barely so much as a step up, let alone a hill. If you’re looking for terrain that’s a little more challenging, head to central Staten Island such as Manor Heights or Todt Hill. However, if you’re happy taking your pooch for a relaxing wander, or maybe your pup has little legs, then Midland Beach is ideal for you.

Just like most of Staten Island, the area is heavily built up with residential homes, asphalt streets, and other city infrastructure. You’re not going to find much truly wild terrain in these parts. Having said that, you are, of course, never far from the beach if you’re in the area. Therefore, if you’re looking to breathe in a little fresh air and bask in nature’s glory, head down to the coastline.

There are a few small greenways within the boundaries of Midland Beach. Last Chance Pond Park has a small stream and a number of sports fields. It's suitable if you live centrally and want something close by to visit. However, on either side of Midland Beach, you have two sizeable parks that are much more noteworthy. Ocean Breeze Park is a favorite among Staten Island residents. Its 110-acres of open grasslands, wetlands, and forestry mean you’ll instantly feel back in nature.

In the east, you have the even larger Miller Field. Again, you’ll find plenty of space to let your dog off the leash where they can have a great run around and return exhausted enough that they’ll not jump at postman all week which is ideal for both you and the postman! But of course, the biggest draw has to be the beach itself. Here, you’ll be able to see the bay. It’s beautiful both in winter and summer.
