West Brighton, which is sometimes considered to encompass the area referred to as New West Brighton, is located in the northern section of Staten Island. This mostly residential neighborhood has plenty of commercial activity with delis, coffee shops, and convenience stores well distributed throughout and the neighborhood is considered to be highly walkable. The main commercial corridor of Forest Avenue in West Brighton has multiple shops, eateries, and services located along it. West Brighton and the area of New West Brighton are located along the waterfront across from New Jersey on the north shore and the coast is a dominant feature in the region. West Brighton is a highly developed, densely populated, urban residential area with commercial services also located within the district. For longer greenways, Silver Lake Park is located just southeast of West Brighton. Silver Lake Park provides a 205-acre, dog-friendly park that allows dogs off-leash except in designated areas such as playgrounds and sports fields. There are lots of interwinding trails for you and your dog to explore and a large beautiful lake as well. 


Cloves Lake Park is located just southwest of the community and this natural park has two designated off-leash areas for dogs to romp including an area near Royal Oak Road and Rice Avenue. These off-leash areas are not enclosed and your dog should have good off-leash recall and socialization to enjoy this type of free play. This park also has plenty of meandering greenways and natural areas where your dog should remain on a leash.
