The Irvington Creekside neighborhood is located within the town of Tonawanda, New York, just north of Buffalo. This small, quiet area is bordered by a busy thoroughfare, Niagara Falls Boulevard, and the less hectic streets of Creekside and Irvington. The winding suburban roads within this section are highly walkable with safe streets and sidewalks that are easy to navigate. Within and just outside the neighborhood are two parks that are perfect locations to walk a dog.

In western New York, weather can be variable depending on the season. Springs can be cold and rainy, while summers are often hot and humid. Fall is the most comfortable and beautiful time of year. Because of Tonawanda's proximity to Lake Erie, winters are prone to bouts of lake-effect snowfall, snowstorms, and bitterly cold temperatures. Walking in the winter requires appropriate wear for both the walker and dog including boots, coats, hats, and gloves.

In the Irvington Creekside area, the terrain is mostly flat with minor elevations in some sections, making it ideal for walkers and their pups who are just starting out with higher intensity exercise while also lacking any challenging areas that may lead to strain or injury in elderly dogs. There are areas within this neighborhood for all experience levels. The terrain is well balanced in terms of both urban and natural environments, so you'll likely find something to appeal to your preference.

The neighborhood is populated with older colonial homes amongst landscaped yards. Sidewalks are plentiful and the established trees provide enough shade to make this an excellent area to walk a dog on a warm, sunny day without having to worry too much about the heat. Irvington Creekside is well-plowed and salted during the wintertime, making it a safer area to walk during this season and preventing any hazardous, slippery areas.

There are two parks within and near to the Irvington Creekside neighborhood that are great locations to walk a dog. First is the park alongside Irvington Creekside called Ellicott Creek Park. This sprawling park has plenty of space to walk your pup, both on the designated biking and walking paths and across the vast green spaces. This park includes shelters, restrooms, seating areas, and access to the creek itself. Dogs must be kept on a leash in this area.

The other option, The Bark Park at Elliott Island, is just outside of the Irvington Creekside boundary but within five minutes driving distance. This 25-acre island is a dog park surrounded by water that dogs can swim in and complete with waste bags, seating areas, shelters, grills, and restrooms. Be aware that there are no fenced areas in this park as it is an island, which means that there are no separate spaces for large and small dog breeds.
