Whitestone is a northern residential and commercial neighborhood of Queens, New York, located on the east river on the northernmost tip of the borough. Whitestone is an upper-middle-class neighborhood with commercial areas located in the neighborhood and along the eastern side of the region. A wide variety of shops, eateries, restaurants, services, and a shopping mall are within walking distance for residents and pedestrian travel in the neighborhood is common. Pet owners can access the Whitestone Veterinary Hospital locally when required.

Whitestone is situated on the East River with 25th Avenue on the southern border and contains the subsection of Malba, an exclusive neighborhood in Queens. The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge is located here, providing access to the Bronx. Whitestone Expressway runs across this bridge which brings heavy traffic along the western border of the neighborhood.


Most of Whitstone consists of higher-end residences with a variety of architectural styles and beautifully landscaped properties with mature shade trees. Many homes are located on the East River and have private piers and waterfront. The neighborhood is exceptionally beautiful in the autumn when fall colors are exhibited. 


The terrain is relatively flat and Whitestone has no steep hills to climb when walking the area. There is plenty of commercial activity at a mall on the eastern border of the district and many landmarks in the community including Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Grace Episcopal, Whitestone Hebrew Centre, and the Russian Orthodox church.

Whitestone itself provides beautifully treed, quiet residential roads which create greenways in the community and there is a playground and a triangle located nearby. Francis Lewis Park is located on the northwest side of Whitestone and provides 16.83 acres of parkland. This beautiful park features treed and opens areas and has many paved pedestrian paths including a loop around the large central open lawn. Other facilities in the park include restrooms, playgrounds, spray showers, and kayak and canoe launch sites. Teach your pup to ride in a kayak and you can explore the East River while earning some quality time with your canine companion!

Fort Totten Park is located to the east and this unique 60-acre park has an old military fort as well as recreation areas and greenways to explore with your dog on a leash. There are sports fields and other facilities located here. Walkways near the waterfront provide views across Little Neck Bay.
