Brentwood Park is a residential neighborhood located in northwest Columbus, Ohio. There is a hospital to the southeast, a swim and racket club on the western border, and a school on the northern border, but no shops, restaurants, or other local services nearby.

Dog walkers should be prepared for cold, snowy winters. A warm coat and good footwear will make daily winter walks more comfortable and safer. When high wind chill, frigid temperatures, or winter storms are occurring, you may want to postpone your outings with your pup. Summers are warm and not extremely hot, so you and your dog should not need to worry about becoming overheated, providing you are not overexposed, overexerted, or dehydrated. Severe thunderstorms can also be an issue in the Brentwood Park region, so check forecasts for imminent storms and take shelter. Walking during lightning storms with high winds is hazardous.

Travel to the north side of Brentwood Park is impeded by a creek. Luckily, it has a wooded natural area and ravine around it. On foot travel to the east is also an issue because of the train tracks which should only be crossed at designated pedestrian crossings.

Brentwood Park is a quiet, suburban-like, developed residential area. Most of the dwellings are bungalows with well-landscaped yards and generously spaced properties. There are lots of large shade trees in the area and properties are neat and attractive.

The terrain is level and it is not difficult for pedestrians and pets to traverse the neighborhood with no steep hills to contend with. The community does not have separate sidewalks for pedestrians and pets who must walk on grassy berms or share the road with local traffic.  Be careful and walk facing oncoming vehicles with your dog leashed.

The Olentangy River is situated to the east. This river is lined with greenways and a 17-mile trail that strings together communities, parks, and recreation areas along the river. To get to this area, Brentwood Park residents can cross the river on the pedestrian walkway along W N Broadway, then travel a few blocks north to the Olentangy Trail. This paved trail is an asphalt surfaced, multi-use trail. Watch out for cyclists in the summer and cross-country skiers in the winter.

The trail will take you to Northmoor Park, a 9-acre space with plenty of natural wooded areas and beautiful scenery. A little further north is Whetstone Park which has 136 acres of green space. This park contains a rose garden, sports fields and facilities, a pond, playground, recreation center, picnic sites, and shelters with plenty of natural areas to explore. Paved paths in this park make excellent walking locations for you and your furry friend.
