Merion Village is a neighborhood located on the south side of Columbus, Ohio. Merion Village is a historic district that is highly walkable with many shops and services located throughout it.

On the west side, High Street is lined with commercial establishments including a veterinarian for pet owners to access on foot. Parsons Avenue on the east side has many restaurants, shops, and other ventures located along it. At the intersection of Thurman Avenue and Jaeger Street, there are several local eateries and stores all within easy walking distance.

Residents of Merion Village will need some warm outdoor gear for winters which are cold and snowy. Sub-freezing temperatures, occasional blizzards, and snowfall can make walkways icy or difficult to traverse when snow covered. Good footwear will help on daily trips with your pup. Summers are warm, although thunderstorms can occur which are also treacherous for pedestrians, so be sure to check local forecasts to avoid these storms.

Merion Village is a long developed neighborhood with a history of development dating back to 1809. Homes in the area reflect the history of the region with many beautiful older buildings. Properties are well landscaped with lawns, gardens, and trees. There are pedestrian sidewalks and grassy berms on residential roads providing safe walkways for people and pets.

The terrain is relatively flat with only a few gentle inclines that do not present a significant impediment to on foot travel. The tracks and river to the west present a barrier to pedestrian travel in that direction and must be crossed only at designated pedestrian crossings where walkways are present.

Commercial businesses are located on main thoroughfares and these roads have more traffic, so care needs to be taken when crossing these busy roads. Keep your dog leashed and obey signals to avoid running afoul of traffic.
