Victorian Village sits to the south of the Ohio State University and is a community filled with historic homes and exceptional architecture. The Victorian Style homes came with the addition of a streetcar line around the turn of the 20th century. After undergoing a bit of a slump in the 60s and 70s, the area has undergone significant renovation and restoration.

The "Village" is also home to Goodale Park, one of the most popular parks in Columbus. The park is home to the annual Comfest Music Festival. There are just enough restaurants along N High Street to satisfy most foodies and a pet supply store to ensure your pooch gets their dinner too.

Summers here are quite pleasant with daytime highs in the mid-80s and nights in the 60s. Winters can be a challenge with long weeks of freezing weather. There may be days when you both have to talk each other into going out for your much-needed walks.

The terrain in Victorian Village is urban in nature with grid-style blocks of single and multi-family homes. Most of the streets here have sidewalks for you and Fido to take your daily excursions on. It shouldn't surprise you that as an older community, the streets would not only have sidewalks for everyone to use, but that most of them are heavily shaded. The shade will come in handy during the summer months when the sun is at its zenith.

Neil Avenue is the major road which intersects this community, but it's still relatively small in comparison to the larger highway to the south. You shouldn't have to worry about sharing the road with an influx of vehicles in this neighborhood, no matter where you choose to wander, as long as you stay within its borders.

For larger areas to roam, stick to the small park to the north or the larger one to the south.

At the northern edge of the Village is Thompson Park, which is a small space with basketball courts, the Thompson Community Recreation Center, and just enough grass for you and Fido to walk on. The real green spaces are at the southern end of town.

Goodale Park is one of the most popular downtown parks in Columbus. The park covers a little over 32 acres and includes numerous sports fields and courts, a pond, gardens, floral displays, places for the whole family to enjoy a nice picnic on a warm spring day, and a walking trail for you and your pooch to hike.

A couple of blocks to the west is Wheeler Memorial Park and Wheeler Dog Park. The dog park offers two large fenced-in areas, one for small breeds and one for large breeds. They each have water fountains for the dogs and plenty of shade for everyone to get out of the direct sunlight when it's hot outside.
