Rock Creek is a small rural village in northeastern Ohio that's surrounded by forest and farmland. This community is within 20 miles of some pet-friendly outdoor facilities. If you need pet health care, there are some veterinarians in Jefferson, about nine miles to the northeast.
There's a fenced, off-leash play area just 9.3 miles away. Take your furry friend to Jefferson Dog Park to play and socialize with other pooches. The facility includes waste bags and receptacles that make it easy to clean up your pal's messes. Healthy dogs over four months can use this property.
About 17 miles southwest of town, you'll find another furrific outdoor facility. Check out Observatory Park off Clay Street in Montville. There are almost four miles of trails in this 1,100-acre property. Explore meadows and woodlands as you hike with your special pal. Pack water and bags to pick up waste.
Pack your bags and head to the Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA with your tent or RV. This facility has hookups and primitive sites available. There are a fishing pond and a K9 Kamp with a pet wash here. Supervise your pets and keep them on a cord or leash.
Dogs and their owners can find some outdoor recreational opportunities near the community of Rock Creek.
The village of Rock Creek is a small community with an apartment complex, houses, an elementary school, and a production plant. You can get out in nature at the Grand River Conservation Campus found just southwest of town. A pawtastic place for you to hike or to jog with your pooch is on the Western Reserve Greenway Trail. There's a parking area on Railroad Street where you can connect to the paved pathway. This rail-trail extends southward from Ashtabula for 44 miles. You can share the road with your pup if they're on a lead up to six feet long. Collect and discard any messes.
About 13.5 miles southwest of Rock Creek, you'll find the unincorporated community of Montville. There are single-family homes and a few businesses here. The country roads are a nice place to go walking with your pup. Just east of this neighborhood, you and Fido can spend time by the water. Head to Hidden Lakes Family Campground off Grand Army of the Republic Highway. This pet-friendly facility has RV hookups, tent sites, and three small fishing lakes. Spend a weekend outdoors with your special pal here. Keep your pup under the supervision and leashed at all times. Be sure to dispose of any droppings.
Thompson is about 11.2 miles northwest of town. In this rural village, you'll find single-family homes, a church, some administrative buildings, and a few businesses. Take a tour of Maple Ridge Vineyard and sample area wines. A furrific place to treat your pooch to some outdoor time is Thompson Ledges Township Park. Hike past rock formations and through the woods with your furry pal in this facility. Some of the terrain is rugged, so watch your step when you visit. Your canine companion must be on a lead when they accompany you on your trek. Pack water and waste bags for the trip.
The neighborhood of Madison Palisades is about 16 miles northwest of Rock Creek. This residential area includes wooded lots with single-family homes along the Grand River. You'll find quiet roads where you and your pup can get a little exercise here. Take your fur baby across the river to Hidden Valley Park for a nature hike. There are picnic facilities, river access, a playground, and walking paths in this 152-acre property. Stretch your legs on the ground, or get out on the water with your canine companion. Pets need to be secure on a lead while in the park. Clean up any messes.
Just 15.8 miles northwest of Rock Creek, you'll find South Madison. This community features country estates, a golf course, and some wineries. Head to Grand River Cellars to sample local wines and enjoy the cuisine. To get back to nature with your pooch, head to Hogback Ridge Park off Emmerson Road. This metropark has 629 acres and includes fishing, picnic areas, and hiking trails. Investigate floodplains, ridges, and hardwood forest as you walk through the park with your furry pal. If you come here in spring, you'll be able to see the wildflowers in bloom. Leashed pets can be with you here.
