Oklahoma City has several notable sites, including the Myriad Botanical Gardens and its Crystal Bridge, but it's important not to forget the unrivaled Oklahoma City Zoo and beautiful Botanical Garden. The city’s Parks and Recreation Department manages more than 100 parks, most of which allow leashed dogs on their trails and walkways.

Trails stretch across the majority of Oklahoma City, providing paved paths for bicyclists, runners, and dog walkers. Depending on your schedule, and interest, the trails vary in length, difficulty, and elevation which allows you a great selection in order to best match the mood, health, and interest of you and Fido. This network of trails connects several parks, lakes, and suburbs and offers plenty of options for families and their four-legged companions.

If you’re more interested in an area for off-leash play, bring your pup to the Paw Park. This two-acre park has separate areas for small and large dogs, water stations, and even a pond for the canine swimmers. Human visitors can rest at one of many benches or shaded areas.

At the end of the day, stop in at one of several dog-friendly restaurants in the city. The Picasso Café not only has a nice patio for canine guests but also offers a menu of dog treats, thus ensuring that both you and your pup get a good meal.

Check out Norman Community Dog Park located inside of Griffin Park, where 2 acres of space are just waiting to be sniffed and trampled on by your pooch. Stop by the pond on your way in or out of the park to let your pup go for a dip in the cool water. Inside the fence, there are trees, benches, waste bins, and free poop bags to help keep your visit tidy. Water is only provided for the dogs between April and September, so if you're visiting during the off-season it's a good idea to bring your own. The Sutton Wildlife Greenbelt also features an off-leash dog run, complete with a small dog section and benches for human guests. The many trails around this park are also open to furry friends, provided that they are on a leash.

What Mayview lacks in numbers of barktastic attractions, it makes up for in quality. OKC Paw Park is basically heaven on Earth for dogs. This roomy, shaded dog run has its very own pond with gravel beach! Dogs can swim, run and play all over the large grounds, which are divided into areas. One area caters to smaller or senior puppers, while the other is perfect for big and active doggos! There are multiple watering stations inside the park, and poop bags and waste bins are provided. Dogs must be vaccinated to enter and children under ten are not allowed in for safety reasons. If you and your furry buddy are looking for a walk together, head down any of the trails nearby on Lake Hefner-- just remember to bring a leash!
