Powellhurst-Gilbert is a 3.44-square-mile neighborhood with residential dwellings, natural areas, and commercial activity. The community is bordered by Division Street on the north, Interstate 205 on the west, Foster Road on the south, and the Powell Butte Nature Park on the east.

Homes in the area are mostly single-family, detached dwellings, many with large yards. There are also some apartment complexes in the district. Large trees are prevalent on private and public properties and the region is heavily vegetated and shady. Some residential streets do not have separate sidewalks for pedestrians and pets. When walking on streets with no sidewalks, keep your dog leashed and walk facing oncoming traffic.

The topography of the region is flat with no steep hills for you and your dog to climb, which is especially good news if you or your pet has mobility issues! A large natural park sits on the east side and another natural area is situated in the northwest side.
