With a population of over 610,000, Portland is only the 28th most populous city in the United States, so what makes it the best for dogs? Portland has over 30 off-leash dog parks, the city is incredibly walkable, and the events are 'off-the-leash!'

Forest Park is conveniently located only a few miles from downtown Portland, but it's convenience doesn't sacrifice its beauty. Forest Park has been minimally developed, has over 70 miles of trails, and spans across 5,157 miles, that's 5x the size of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park! The park was founded in 1948 and hosts 112 bird and 62 mammal species. Expect to bring plenty of water for you and your pooch, as there aren't a whole lot of convenient water fountains.

With the family and happen to be in North Portland? Check out Arbor Lodge Park. Arbor Lodge Park offers the perfect family day, between the soccer field, merry-go-round, tennis courts, walking paths, and off-leash dog park, this park has it all.

If you're visiting from out of town, check out the RiverPlace Hotel. All Kimpton hotels are pet-friendly and they do not ask for pet deposits or have size restrictions.

This area is a 1 acre area that is designated for off leash romp and play. You’ll also find off-leash areas at Willamette Park and Irving Park.
