Dog Walking in The Dalles

The town of The Dalles in Oregon is located east of Portland on the Columbia River, and has quite a bit of history! Once an Indian trading center, this area also boasted a visit from Lewis and Clark in the early 1800s. Later, it was settled by folks heading through on the Oregon Trail, which led to the town we see today. The Dalles takes good care of its furry friends with its six veterinarians and clinics who are experts in keeping your pooch in tip-top shape, so get ready to explore this Oregon gem!

The Dalles has some beautiful parks, such as the Thompson City Park that offers something for everyone. Not only is this a fantastic place for a leashed walk with Fido on the paved pathways around the park, but it also features a playground and skatepark. Bring the kids and a picnic and enjoy a little more time outdoors.

Fido will also love a snifftastic walk at the Kiwanis Park at Klindt Cove next to the Columbia River. There are restrooms and parking, and easy access to the 1.2 mile Columbia River Walk Trail that runs from Starvation Creek to Lindsey Creek.

When traveling, stay at The Dalles Inn or The Super 8 Hotel where your pup can stay with you for an additional fee. Call ahead to assure your room is dog-friendly.

Come on to The Dalles and enjoy the history of this incredibly scenic part of Oregon.
