Conshohocken is a residential borough located in suburban Philadelphia. The neighborhood is located about a 30-minute commute northwest of downtown Philly. This community is a highly walkable region with plenty of its own amenities. There is a business area along the river and a commercial thoroughfare along Fayette Street which is accessible to pedestrians and pets on foot. Many restaurants, pubs, shops, and services can be found here to meet the needs of residents without having to leave the area by car.

There are two pet stores to the north for dog owners to visit with their furry friends and pick up supplies or treats.

Have rain gear handy for walks with your dog as Philadelphia can be a rainy place to stroll. Winters have temperatures near the freezing mark and some snow occurs while humid summer days can be a bit much for long hikes. Take shorter outings or choose cooler times of the day for long walks with your furry friend.

Conshohocken occupies one square mile along the Schuylkill riverfront. The community is bordered by the river on the south, Colwell Road on the west, 12th Avenue on the north, and Righter Street on the east. Railroad tracks line the river and should only be crossed at designated pedestrian crossings.

There are some hills in the region and hikes with your hound will necessitate some up and downhill treks. If you or your dog are limited in mobility, you will want to choose your route carefully to avoid steep grades. Most of the homes nearby are detached single-family dwellings, although there are some apartment complexes along the river.

Streets in the region have separate pedestrian sidewalks, often with grassy berms, that provide safe walkways for you and your pup. The region is well landscaped with attractive private properties that have plenty of trees and large lawns and there are many parks and public properties also providing green space to the district.

Your canine companion will appreciate the Schuylkill River Trail which runs along the river and is a great hiking trail for you and your dog. This trail runs for 10 miles along the river providing views of the water. This multi-use trail is popular with a variety of users including cyclists and joggers, so keep your dog leashed and watch for faster moving traffic.

The Conshohocken Dog Park is an off-leash dog park located near the river. If you are looking for a place to let your dog play unhampered, this is an excellent place to visit, but you have to register with the township first and get an access code. Dogs must be vaccinated and there are restrictions regarding unaltered pooches, so check online first for regulations.

Several community parks with sports fields and paved paths are also available throughout the neighborhood and are easily accessible. These include Sutcliffe Park, Haines and Salvati Memorial Park, Leeland Park, and the Mary H. Wood Park.
