Philadelphia, Newbold included, experiences all four seasons throughout the year. Summer months will bring plenty of sun, heat, and tons of humidity. Winter months, on the other hand, will bring snow, cold temperatures, wind, and some icy conditions.
The boundaries of Newbold include Washington Avenue to the north, South Broad Street to the east, Passyunk Avenue to the south, and South 18th Street to the west. South 16th Street and South 15th Street are also major roadways, so pedestrians may want to avoid those areas due to the potential for speeding traffic.
Pedestrians can also walk to Columbus Square, Ralph Brooks Park, Chew Playground, Guerin Recreation Center, Capitolo Playground, Bardascino Park, and Marian Anderson Park which are all located outside of the Newbold neighborhood. The nearest off-leash area is the Columbus Square Dog Park which is less than half a mile to the east. This fenced-in area even has some stumps for dogs to jump around on. Always make sure you keep an eye on your pup while they are playing and to clean-up after them before you leave!
