Walnut Hill is located between 45th Street and 52nd Avenue with Market Street on the north and Spruce Street on the south. Most residences in the neighborhood are two and three-story row houses and there are some pre-war, garden style apartments of brick construction. Landscaping on residential properties is minimal, but there are some mature shade trees on residential roads.

Chestnut Street and Walnut Street are main thoroughfares in the neighborhood running east-west and, when crossing these streets, watch for traffic and keep your dog securely leashed. There are train tracks running parallel to Market Street that impede pedestrian travel in that direction. Be aware of where appropriate pedestrian crossings are located when crossing roads or tracks in the region. The terrain is relatively flat and there are no steep hills to climb when walking in the area so you and your dog can take leisurely strolls through Walnut Hill without overexerting yourselves.
