Wynnefield is a sprawling West Philadelphia neighborhood famous as being the childhood home of actor Will Smith and director Lee Daniels. It's also a popular place for students from Saint Joseph's University who live off campus. With fewer retail areas, the neighborhood offers you and your pet an enjoyable walk down residential streets past neighborhood schools and churches. Wynnefield very much feels like a suburb rather than a part of the city, so you'll be able to enjoy a peaceful day outside.

Be sure to check the weather before heading out with your pet. Philadelphia sees all four seasons with the summer and winter months bringing drastic temperatures. Try to walk your pup in the morning during the summer before the sun heats up the sidewalks which could harm your pup's little paws. In the winter, head out during a sunny afternoon when it's less icy and a bit warmer.

Wynnefield is a quiet and picturesque part of Philadelphia with tree-lined streets framed by single and double-family homes, apartments, and public buildings. There aren't many extreme hills in the neighborhood, but some of the streets are on an incline. Prepare yourself by bringing some water and wearing proper walking shoes, especially on a hot day. Many of the sidewalks feature grassy verges, providing the perfect place for a quick stop.

There is a lot for you and your pup to explore in Wynnefield. Head to the SJU campus to meet some students studying on the grass or get lost in the neighborhood's suburban-style blocks. You'll find most of the streets are very quiet, but a lot of the roads can become busy. Always stay cautious when crossing the street and keep your pet on a tight leash to stay on narrow sidewalks and away from traffic.

Wynnefield features a lot of grassy areas perfect for relaxing or playing. Triangle Park is a small triangular park in the southern part of the neighborhood that offers a playground and plenty of green space. If your dog loves people, the nearby SJU campus has sprawling lawns where students will happily take a study break to play with your pup. Take some time to step away from the busy roads, explore the campus, and enjoy the foliage.

Wynnefield also has easy access to West Fairmount Park, one of Philadelphia's largest parks. This 1,400-acre piece of land is home to a museum, a Japanese Garden, the Philadelphia Zoo, and more. You can take your pet for a hike on the park's miles and miles of trails, visit the athletic fields and playgrounds, or spend some time at Concourse Lake. With so much to do, your pooch will surely be in heaven!
