With its beautifully shaded roads and well-maintained sidewalks, Rosewood should be a great neighborhood for you and Fido to explore while out walking! As a residential community, you should be relatively safe from speeding traffic, crowds, or too many negative distractions for your pup. Just be careful during on Gamecock game-day as the pedestrian traffic in the neighborhood is likely to be heavier than normal.

Like much of Columbia, Rosewood has its fair share of rolling and steep hills. Many of them, you and your pup will need to navigate if you choose to walk through this neighborhood.

The boundaries of Rosewood include Rosewood Drive and Hickory Street to the north, South Beltline Boulevard and Timberlane Drive to the east, and Plowden Road and railroad tracks to the southwest. Rosewood Drive is, by far, the busiest street in the neighborhood and you will likely want to avoid this road whenever the Carolina Gamecocks football team is playing as this road always backs up with game-day traffic!

Smaller, local parks include Oakhurst Park, Isaac McClinton Park, Edisto Community Garden, and Ben Arnold Center Park. One of the larger parks in Rosewood is Rosewood Park, a six-acre greenway. This park is home to a small playground, a picnicking area, a baseball field, an open field for general recreation, and plenty of paved paths for you and your pup to explore.

Lester Bates Park, also a six-acre greenway, is only a few blocks away from the Rosewood Park! However, Lester Bates has very few amenities and is generally just one, long grassy field. Alternatively, Valencia Park is a smaller, local greenway only measuring two acres. This park, surrounding by residential spaces, has a small playground, a baseball diamond, and an open field.

The nearest dog park is only a mile away, located immediately north of Rosewood. The dog park at Emily Douglas Park is a small, fenced-in area for your pup to enjoy some off-leash time!
