Mason is a small town in the middle of Texas. There are not any dog-friendly things to do here, but there’s a vet in town to take care of your pup in case of emergency.
In Fredericksburg, Texas, which is around 40 minutes away, you’ll find tons of dog-friendly fun! West End Pizza Co. has a little of everything: meatball subs, calzone, stromboli, and build-your-own pizzas! Fido is welcome at their outdoor tables.
Flat Rock Park is an hour away in Kerrville. This large park is set on the Guadalupe River. This park is the only park in town which is off-leash and has an oval road where people can walk their dogs on leash.
If you are looking for German food, check out Altdorf Biergarten and Auslander, two local German restaurants. Both of these restaurants have outdoor seating.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is open to dogs in designated day-use picnic areas, the campgrounds, and the on the Loop Trail (dogs are not allowed on any of the other trails). All dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times.
If you're looking for more casual American food, check out Sozial Haus. They have all of the American classics like pulled pork sandwiches, chicken melts, Frito pie, reubens, and thin crust pizza. Outdoor seating is available for the whole family, even the furry members!
Brunswick is roughly 18 miles south of Mason, and provides easy access to both Interstate 269 and Interstate 40. Bartlett Dog Park provides a fun, off-leash atmosphere for your dog to play and socialize, as well as shade trees, benches, separate areas for puppies, small dogs and large dogs, and a kiddie pool for them to cool down in! Feeling famished? Baby Jack’s BBQ, Sekisui, and Kabob International are some of the dog-friendly eateries in the area, and if you’re visiting from out of town and need lodging that caters to dogs, Suburban Extended Stay and various Airbnb rentals will accommodate you and your fur baby!
Approximately 30 miles south of Mason, the community of Germantown is a residential neighborhood that provides dining, shopping and outdoor recreational activities. Shelby Farms Park comes in at 4,500 acres, making it one of the biggest urban parks in the nation! The park has over 40 miles’ worth of paved and unpaved hiking trails and walking paths, making it a very practical place in the area to get some exercise and explore with your on-leash pooch. An added bonus: the park also has two lakes on the premises, and both allow unleashed dogs to swim and learn the doggie paddle!
Binghampton is a short 30-minute jaunt south on Interstate 40 from Mason. This family-friendly locale offers residents and guests access to local parks, golf clubs and country clubs; there are even some fun activities for Fido to partake in! Memphis Dog Park has two massive fenced-in areas for large and small dogs where they can play and socialize off-leash. The larger area is an acre, and the enclosure for small pups is half an acre. Wiseacre Brewing Co., RockHouse Live Midtown, Lost Pizza Co., And Sonic Drive-In are some of the restaurants in the area that accommodate canines.
Cooper-Young is a dog-friendly neighborhood that is located about 45 minutes from Mason that is conveniently located at the junction of Highway 79 and Highway 78. Peabody Park and Glenview Park both have open spaces and walking paths that on-leash dogs can utilize along with their parents to get some sun and exercise! Memphis Made Brewing Co., Soul Fish Café, Celtic Crossing, Tsunami, Strano! Sicilian Kitchen & Bar, and Stone Soup are a few of the many dog-friendly restaurants in the Cooper-Young community! If you’re on the hunt for lodging that’s dog-friendly, there are plenty of rentals that accommodate pups.
The great city of Memphis has so much to offer everyone in your family, including your fur baby! It’s only a 45-minute drive from Mason and is scenically situated overlooking the Mississippi River and the Tennessee-Arkansas border. Ashburn-Coppock Park, Chickasaw Bluff Number Four, Memphis Park, Court Square and Greenbelt Park are some of the local spaces you can take your on-leash dog to use their paved walkways and open areas. Bass Pro Shops is dog-friendly and is located inside the gorgeous Memphis Pyramid building. The entire 534,000 square foot building lets your pooch to browse with you; they also allow pups to enjoy the wilderness hotel that is located on the premises too!
