Historic Edgefield is a small neighborhood located in eastern Nashville, Tennessee. During Nashville's founding, this area was home to some of the most luxurious and expensive homes. Unfortunately, many were destroyed by either a large fire or a later tornado in the early 1900s. However, visitors can still see the East Ivy Mansion, one of the few historic homes to survive both natural disasters! Today, Historic Edgefield is a growing neighborhood with both residential and commercial spaces.

Commercially, Historic Edgefield is home to several churches, schools and related businesses, local restaurants and bars, grocery and convenience stores, a recreation center, and a bed and breakfast. Residentially, this neighborhood has a few apartment complexes, but is mostly composed of standalone, single family homes built in a variety of design styles.

Nashville itself is largely known for being the home to country music and many other music industry businesses, but also has professional sports teams, universities, a thriving food and brewery scene, and historic landmarks.

Less than two miles from Nashville's downtown area, the Historic Edgefield neighborhood is largely artificial terrain, however, this doesn't mean you and Fido can't have a pleasant walk here! Most of the neighborhood has sidewalks that are relatively well-maintained. You may find some cracks or bumps here and there, but for the most part, it should be smooth sailing. Additionally, many of the sidewalks are lined with grass on the street side, so you can avoid your pup taking a pit stop in someone's front yard.

Additionally, Historic Edgefield is a mostly flat neighborhood, so you and your pup shouldn't have to overcome any majorly steep or strenuous hills.

The boundaries of Historic Edgefield include Main Street to the northwest, South 10th Street to the east, Sylvan Street to the south, and South 4th Street to the west. Woodland Street is home to many of the local businesses in this neighborhood and may have heavier or speedier traffic than surrounding streets.

Unfortunately, there is only one public park in the Historic Edgefield neighborhood. East Park, located near the northwest border of the community, is home to a recreation center that frequently hosts community events and summer programs for local children. This recreation center also offers frequent workout classes, dance classes, and yoga. Additionally, this park has a pool, a playground, a few sports facilities, and some fields for general recreation.

Thankfully, there are a few other greenways within walking distance of Historic Edgefield. A rather hilly greenway, Kirkpatrick Park, is on the southern border of the neighborhood and is home to a playground and a few sports facilities.

Frederick Douglass Park, a rather large greenway, is only a few blocks to the north of this neighborhood. This park is located next to a local middle school, so it likely will be populated with local students. This park has a playground, some baseball fields, and lots of space for your pup to explore while out walking!
