The weather in Dallas can be extreme and pedestrians should be aware of the conditions and take steps to make their on foot excursions safe and more comfortable for themselves and their pets. Winters are relatively warm, however, inclement weather in the form of freezing rain occurs a few times each season and makes footing treacherous. Summers are very hot and dry with high daytime temperatures. Make sure you take lots of water on walks to ward off dehydration and avoid the heat of the day. Spring temperatures are ideal for pedestrian travel but rain and thunderstorms, sometimes severe, can occur. Check local forecasts before planning your walks.
There are some slight inclines in the area, but they do not present a significant barrier to pedestrians. There is a spring and lake in the park to enjoy and the nearby arts district with heavier pedestrian and commercial traffic is situated to the south.
Kidd Springs Park is located in the center of the neighborhood along with a recreation center. The park and center have many amenities including a basketball court, pavilion, picnic areas and tables, a playground, butterfly garden, sand volleyball court, soccer and softball fields, tennis courts, and an outdoor pool. Greenways and trails abound throughout the area and loop around facilities and the cool blue lake situated here. There is fishing at the lake, so watch out for hooks and lines and fishing activities when walking your dog so your pup does not become entangled.
There are benches and a water supply along the greenways where you can refill your water bottle or take a break in the shade. This beautiful park has lots of open areas and plenty of mature shade trees. Public art is on display throughout the park to add interest and there is even wifi available if you need to access it.
