The climate in Galveston is warm and wet in winter and hot and wet in the summer! No need to layer up to stay warm on outdoor excursions in Evia as it is mild even in winter months. However, waterproof material with breathable fabric for warm weather that is coupled with rain is recommended. In the summer, temperatures can soar on hot days so you will want to avoid taking your dog out in the heat. Plan walks for earlier or later in the day when it is cooler.
There are three large lakes in the community and natural areas and lakes bordering the it. Central community amenities exist like a playground and pool. Because this community is located behind the Galveston Sea Wall and homes do not need to be constructed on pilings, houses have living space at ground level. Evia is a newer area and large shade trees have not developed while the area is flat and exposed to elements like sun and rain. The good news is: no steep hills to traverse!
Galveston has an off-leash dog park located to the east at Lindale Park if you want to let your dog romp with other canines in a safe, enclosed environment. There are separate areas in Lindale Dog Park for large and small dogs and benches and picnic tables that provide rest areas for owners.
