The Arena District is located on the east side of San Antonio, Texas, a short 10-minute commute from the downtown district. The neighborhood is home to St. Phillips College and its institutions, facilities, and amenities, including an arts center. There are many churches and schools in the area and some local eateries as well as shops and services in the region that are within walking distance.

Dog walkers in San Antonio will be pleased that snow and sub-freezing temperatures in San Antonio are rare and usually a light jacket is sufficient. Spring and fall see some rainy weather and summers are very hot and humid. Choose cooler times of the day to walk, pack water on longer hikes, and watch for signs of heat stress. Thunderstorms are common in warm weather and these storms have high winds and torrential rain which can cause flash flooding. Seek shelter when dangerous storms manifest.

The Arena District is a rectangularly shaped neighborhood with South New Braunfels Avenue on the west, train tracks on the east, E-Commerce Street on the north side, and Virginia Boulevard on the south.

The area is relatively level with only some very gentle inclines and it is not difficult for people and pets of all abilities to take a stroll in the region as there are no steep grades to contend with.

Homes in the area are older, single-family dwellings that are moderately sized and there is lots of mature landscaping in the district. Some residential streets have sidewalks and some side streets do not, resulting in dog walkers needing to share the road with local traffic. Use caution, keep your pet under control and leashed, and walk facing oncoming traffic. The Phillips College property is centrally located in the area and occupies a large section of the district.

Arena District residents and their furry friends can easily reach Lincoln Park on the northeast corner of the neighborhood. This large park has many amenities including sports fields and facilities, a swimming pool, pavilion, and picnic tables, restrooms, a playground, and a water fountain. A half-mile walking trail is a great place to take your pup for a stroll in this greenway.

Dawson Park is also located nearby. This park has picnic and grill sites, a playground, and water fountains. A paved walking path with a circle feature around the play structures is available for dog walkers, but pups should stay off the playground and sports fields.

The open area and sports fields of Pittman-Sullivan Park are located on the west border of the Arena District and provide a larger greenway to visit with your dog. Remember to keep your pet leashed unless designated off-leash areas are posted and be prepared to clean up after them.
