Dog Walking in Biscoe

Biscoe is a very small, unincorporated community in eastern Virginia. Because the area is so small, it has little to offer dog owners other than five veterinarians within 20 miles of town. However, there are plenty of dog-friendly activities in neighboring Richmond and Tappahannock, if you’re willing to take a drive.

There are three parks in Richmond that are particularly popular. Church Hill Dog Park is top-rated for its fencing, various cool-down stations, and support of off-leash play. Hilly, open, and with lots of grass to enjoy, it’s a perfect place to stop to play. Leashed dogs are welcome at nearby Byrd Park, which is beloved for its large, grassy walking area. Libby Hill Park, tucked neatly in the historic district, is known for its excellent parking, fantastic view of the James River, and cleanliness of its walking trails.

If you’re up for a bite to eat, head on over to Tappahannock. After a quick 20-minute drive from Biscoe, you’ll be rewarded with Lowery’s Seafood Restaurant. This eatery welcomes pups on its outdoor patio and serves everything from soup and salad to flounder, crab, and scallops. Want something more casual? Consider To-Do Cafe & Seafood; this down-home restaurant is famous for its coconut shrimp and signature burgers.

Although Biscoe itself is small, dog moms and dads shouldn’t fear! There are plenty of pawtastic, Fido-friendly activities in the nearby community!

Mi Jalisco has a nice, airy patio where your dog can join you for some classic Mexican food. Thirty-six miles is all that stands between you and the best tacos in the state of Virginia. The town may be tiny, but the selection on this menu is huge! If you don’t like tacos because of all the veggies, you could go for a burrito or even some enchiladas. This spot is a local favorite because the food is superb and the fur-iendly company is even better! You and your dashing dog can dine at the outdoor tables.
