Cliff Cannon is a mixed-use neighborhood located in south-central Spokane. This neighborhood contains several medical facilities and hospitals, schools, and churches. There are some restaurants, shops, and services located on Grand Boulevard on the south side of the neighborhood that are also walkable for residents.

Dog walkers in Cliff Cannon should be aware that summers are warm, dry, and are generally pleasant for walking, as are spring and fall. When temperatures are higher, be careful to avoid heat-related illnesses by limiting activity and staying hydrated. Spokane has less rain than other parts of the state due to the location of the mountains. Winters are cool and can be cold with average daily temperature in the coldest months below the freezing mark which means the accumulation of snow and icy surfaces. A warm coat and good footwear will help dog walkers stay warm on winter walks and avoid slipping.

Cliff Cannon is bordered on its west side by train tracks, the north by Interstate 90, the east by Division Street, and 16th Avenue on the south. The region is hilly, although inclines are not very steep. However, long slopes can be strenuous to walk up depending on your route in the region.

The community is heavily treed and landscaped with gardens and ornamental trees. Homes in the area are older character homes and well situated. Walks with your dog through residual neighborhoods are pleasant with homes making an attractive backdrop and separate pedestrian sidewalks and grass berms creating safe walking paths. Homes are mostly concentrated on the west side with commercial areas and institutions on the east side which is less landscaped and has more pavement and traffic.

Train tracks on the west side should only be crossed at designated crossing points and do not make a safe location for walking with your dog.
