There are many different hiking, biking, and walking trails to choose from that are dog-friendly as long as you keep your dog on a leash. You can also fish in the lake, partake in a variety of paddle sports, have a picnic in one of their many designated picnic locations, and take kids to the playground if they want to do something over than hang out on the beach and swim.
The two beach areas are sandy, and the ground is on a slight incline from in the lake to the shore, making it easy to walk in and out of the water. Better yet is the special doggy swim area that is just by the kids' playground! This is a special spot where your pup is able to play and splash around in the water in an area just for them to play safely. Your dog is not allowed in the human swimming beaches, so make sure you keep them in their special area.
Your dog must wear a leash around the park and the campground areas. Doggy bags may or may not be available throughout the park, so bring your own just in case you cannot find any. Always clean up after your dog so that you keep the park and beach area clean and sanitary for the other visitors.
Overall, this is a great beach option if you are looking for something close to home and don't want to travel to the Great Lakes or the ocean!
