Luckily, you don't have to explore these areas alone. Both Captiva and Sanibel have special doggo-beach areas where you and your four-legged friend can romp around in the surf, play in the sand, mingle with other beach-loving dogs, and explore this Florida beach paradise. This natural beach paradise offers you over 15 miles of sandy coastline to explore, and if you do it right, you and your doggo can do most of these areas together!
While Captiva is a little bit stricter about their dog policy and typically do not allow dogs on the beach, there are a few areas in Sanibel that will allow your pup to run around like the beach-loving hound they are. If you're looking to take your pup for a beachside excursion, check out Bowman's Beach. This section of beach is beautiful, secluded, and has plenty of hiking trails and fun amenities that you and your pup are more than welcome to explore together.
Another great area for doggo beach exploring is the Causeway Islands. Doggos are allowed at both beaches so long as they're on their on a leash that doesn't exceed 8 feet, and of course, you're required to clean up after your pet every time they make a mess.
