Kalaloch Area Beaches, Olympic National Park

The Kalaloch area beaches, located in Forks, Washington, are home to many different marine animals. As part of the Olympic National Park, this Pacific Coast region houses several nature preserves and small islands protected by the Olympic Park National Marine Sanctuary. With over 135 miles of coastline to enjoy, visitors to this pristine scenic masterpiece can spot many different species of marine and other wildlife, including birds such as puffins and murres, and more rarely seen animals such as otters and seals. 

Visitors to the Kalaloch area can enjoy this pawmazing coastline, with views of sandy beaches, rocky headlands, kelp beds where the otters play, subtidal reefs and tidepools. And with 7 beaches to explore, your pup will love it! Located between the towns of Forks and Aberdeen, this protected area is nestled below the Hoh Indian Reservation and above the Qiunault Indian Reservation. Access to the beach and coastal areas is free of charge.

South Beach is in the very southern tip of the area, and offers camping, picnic areas, and flush toilets in the summer. Going north, you can find Beaches 1 and 2, and above those, you'll find the main area that visitors generally enter in, right off of US 101. Visitors to this picturesque area centered around Kalaloch Creek can choose from over 166 campsites equipped with barbecue pits for cooking, picnic benches, access to water for drinking, restrooms, animal-resistant storage areas, the Kalaloch Lodge right on the beach, the ranger station and a gas station. For families visiting with RV's, there is a waste dump portal available for a fee. Further north are Beaches 3, 4 and 6. Ruby Beach is the most northern beach. 

Best of all, dogs are allowed on all Kalaloch beaches! Your pup will love romping on these sandy areas, exploring tidepools and coastal vegetation, splashing in the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, or just enjoying the the stunning views with you. Along some of the beaches, there are also cliffs and unique trees that provide some shade and relief from the sun. Your dog is welcome on the beach at any time, but does need to keep that leash on, even in the water. While some areas offer water access near campgrounds, you should always have water on hand to share with your thirsty adventure pup. Also bring clean-up bags, and always pick up after your dog.
