Boasting an overlook with direct access to the tidelands below, this place is a perfect site to spend an afternoon with your doggo, exploring the tide pools and chasing the sea critters that may still be stuck inside them since the tide rolled back. Previously the location of the ferry landing site, from Lummi Island's overlook, you can still catch glimpses of the ferry coming to and from the island.
Lummi Island's Recreation site is actually part of a much larger park, which you and your dog can both explore. There are hiking trails, camping grounds, picnic areas, and even a couple off-leash grounds where your pooch can let loose and run around to their heart's content! Camping grounds are first come, first served, so make sure you get there early. While there are a bunch of campsites, Lummi Island is a relatively popular area, due to its beauty as well as all of the activities available in the area, so you want to make sure you get a prime spot!
Parking is right off of the overlook, so it can't really get any more convenient. Just hop out of your car and enjoy the day! Just make sure to clean up everything (i.e., bring your own bags!), and put anything back where you found it - because this site is part of a park, disturbing or damaging natural resources is prohibited. Regardless, you're sure to have a blast, and if your pup could talk, they would definitely be asking when your next trip to Lummi Park is going to be!
