Description
Gorgeous Oxnard City, California offers residents and visitors 5 miles of continuous beach along the lovely Pacific Ocean. Best of all, four of these beaches allow your doggo to explore them with you for some of the best swimming, sunbathing, and sand romping in southern California! Let's check out these pawrific dog-friendly beaches from north to south.

Oxnard Beach Park is right under Mandalay Beach, at 1601 S. Harbor Boulevard, near the Embassy Suites Resort. This family oriented park and beach features green lawns, picnic tables and grills, restrooms, and a playground for the little two-leggeds in your clan. There are also several paths to walk, jog or bike, including the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route that goes by the park, and the Rehab Point Loop that stretches from one of the parking areas to the dunes, and along the edge of the beach. Benches are available for a rest with pawsome views. Best of all, the park provides easy access to the sand and surf of Oxnard Beach. Dogs are allowed here leashed all day long, so feel free to bring your beach pup with you. Paid parking lots are located on South Harbor Boulevard, and near the south end of the beach, and cost $1 per hour, or $5 for the day, cash only.

Hollywood Beach may have earned its name from visiting movie stars of the bygone eras, including Clark Gable, Carol Lombard, and even Rudolph Valentino who is said to haunt it to this day. Located south of Oxnard Beach Park on South Harbor Boulevard near the Channel Islands Harbor, this beach is pawpular for sunbathing, swimming in the waves, and beach volleyball. Restrooms are conveniently located right on the beach, near LeBrea Street. More importantly, your leashed pup can join you on the sand and in the surf before 9 AM and after 5 PM, so plan your beach adventure accordingly. This furbulous beach offers free street parking along Mandalay Beach Road, Sunset Lane, and at the Channel Islands Harbor.

One of the most popular dog-friendly beaches in Oxnard is Silver Strand Beach, found off S Victoria Avenue. Known for its world-class surf, fantastic fishing, kayaking, swimming, and a family-friendly vibe that is hard to beat, the crowds peak here in the summertime and on weekends on this mile long stretch of sand due to its super-soft, white sandy beaches. The sand area is wide, which is perfect for dogs that like to run around, play fetch, and dig! Your leashed dog can join you at Silver Strand Beach only before 9 am and after 5 pm. Restrooms are located at the north end of the beach, and free parking lots are on the north end of San Nicholas Road, and at the south end of Sawtelle Avenue. This beach also offers outdoor showers, and visitors can catch a glimpse of marine wildlife, such as dolphins and harbor seals.

If you have little ones in tow, you may want to opt for the calm beach of Kiddie Beach Park inside the Channel Islands Harbor on S Victoria Avenue and Sunset Drive. A small cove of sand near the entrance to the harbor, this spot is known for its gentle waters and soft sand. The safe swimming area is roped off, and dogs are welcome to join you on the sand or in the water on leash. Be sure to check if the water is safe for swimming by asking lifeguards or noting signs. Parking can be found along South Victoria Avenue near Silver Strand Beach.

No matter which beach you decide to check out, be sure to bring all the needed essentials for a wooftastic day in the sun and sand, including water to share, and clean-up bags. Be sure to always stoop and scoop and keep these public beaches dog-friendly. Note that dogs are not allowed on Mandalay Beach, the most northern beach in Oxnard.

For a truly memorable time in the pawmazing California sun, check out the Oxnard City beaches with your pup!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.

I grew up in Oxnard but recently moved to West LA and I am constantly telling my friends how much better the Oxnard beaches are than anything in Los Angeles. They are cleaner and most of the time you have a large area all to yourself. As a dog owner who isn't always comfortable taking my dog off leash in public this makes me at ease knowing Finn can run endlessly without worrying about other dogs or people. Also if you go to Silver Strand make sure to check out Pepe's Tacos! I can't count how many fish tacos I've had from there plus its dog friendly!
Thanks for your vote!
