A beautiful and serene weekend getaway, hidden from the rest of the world, awaits vacationers only a short distance from Los Angeles, California. The Circle X Ranch is a former Boy Scout camp that provides several opportunities for adventure lovers. Nestled in the canyons over Boney Mountain, Circle X Ranch sits at 1,700 feet, in the canyons over Malibu. The dog-friendly campground provides ample opportunities for trekkers to climb the Sandstone Peak, San Monica Mountain’s highest point, and catch sight of the Channel Islands. It’s the perfect picnic place where a city dweller would want to relax.
There are several trails in this coastal getaway that wind through its Mediterranean ecosystem. In July and August, the red shank chaparral blossoms. It has a beautiful reddish-brown bark with small bunches of white flowers, which give it its beauty. Circle X Ranch is a nature lover’s paradise; the trail allows hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
This is big group site, good for up to 75 people. At San Monica’s peak, where the Channel Island is visible, there are picnic tables, grills, and toilets, which allow the campers to spend a magical evening with their friends, family, and Fido. Drinking water is available. Rangers can be found along the trails to help campers. Make sure to pack poop bags and clean up after your pooch.
Circle X also has a basketball court, where it holds prized competitions with the campers. Most campers are here to spend time with their loved ones; a group competition rejuvenates everyone. The camp is an excellent place for a family hiking trip. Be careful when climbing the rugged terrain of San Monica. Children should not be allowed to run after wildlife unattended. Also keep Fido on a leash and attended to at all times. All in all, this an excellent family and pet-friendly campground.
