Dearhamer Campground is nestled in Colorado's stunning White River National Forest, a 2.3-million-acre expanse that's packed with scenic nature views and fun activities. The Reudi Reservoir and Fryingpan River are close by, providing excellent fishing opportunities.
The Rocky Mountains surround the forest; whether you’re looking for excitement or tranquility, you’ll find it. You and Fido will love being surrounded by the charming beauty sturdy pines and the rugged Rocky Mountains. The Reudi Trail provides excellent opportunities for hiking and mountain biking as it takes you to the Red Table Mountain’s peak. The panoramic views from the summit are worth the 8-mile hike. The combination of 8 wilderness areas, 10 peaks, and 4 seasons results in a charming experience for every camper.
There are 13 standard campsites here, good for RVs, trailers, and tents. The maximum length for RVs is 35 feet, though electric hookups are not provided. Each site comes with a campfire ring and picnic table. You can also access a drinking water hydrant and vault toilets. Please note that only some of the sites can be reserved -- the rest are first-come-first-served. There is plenty of wildlife in the area, which includes bull elk bugle, bighorn sheep, ptarmigan, and pika, among other species. Keep Fido on a leash and use poop bags to clean up after them -- this is for your pup's own safety as well as the safety of other campers and animals.
Fly fishing is big at the Fryingpan River; you can find brook, brown, cutthroat and large rainbow trout there. Remember that you can only fish with artificial lures and flies. You can also enjoy swimming, boating, and water skiing here. Many campers also visit the nearby town of Aspen to restock on supplies or to find other activities to enjoy. All in all, you and your pooch will enjoy relaxation and some thrills at Dearhamer.
