Located on Little Grass Valley Reservoir’s south shore, Little Beaver A Campground is about four miles from La Porte, California. The campground is the biggest one at the reservoir, next to a swimming beach, a trail, amphitheater, and a boat launch ramp. The beavers will be busy, but you and Fido can take your time enjoying the views and activities at this dog-friendly campground.
With a forested setting near the year-round creek, the campground provides beautiful views of the lake and Bald Mountain. The facility is surrounded by wildlife that includes bald eagles and Osprey, among other birds, in addition to bear, deer, fish, and others. You will also see interesting geologic formations nearby.
There are 120 campsites at the campground with drinking water and flush toilets. You get a campfire ring and picnic table with each campsite. There are no RV hookups, while a dump station is provided. The sites are available on a first-come first-served basis. If you want to enjoy the water, you can use the boat launch and beach day-use area next to the facility.
You can enjoy plenty of recreation experiences at the Little Grass Valley Recreation Area. The boat launch ramp lets you access the water for some fishing as well as sailing and water-skiing. The Lakeshore Trail is 13 miles long, winding around the entire lake. You can also go hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding here. More hiking trails are also available in the area, including the nearby Pacific Crest Trail. You can also explore the historic gold mining towns nearby. Just remember to carry poop bags as you explore the area with your doggo to clean up after them.
You can also check out the old towns and cemeteries that are within 10 miles of the campground. The nearby town of La Porte is good for groceries, gasoline, and restaurants. All in all, this is an interesting campground for pets and their parents!
