Located in scenic Santa Margarita, California is the Navajo Flat Campground. The campground is distinguished for its off-highway vehicle (OHV) trailhead, making it a must-go for off-road enthusiasts. The Navajo Flat Campground is also pet-friendly, which means you can also take your doggo along!
The landscape of this campground is dotted with various plants and trees, including oak, conifer, and chaparral. The rocky terrain makes it one of the best OHV campgrounds in the US. On clear days, you can also enjoy views of the coastline and the Sierra Mountains from Pozo Summit as well as other higher peaks in the area.
The Navajo Campground has a total of 6 campsites, 5 of which have canopies for shade, and all sites have fire rings and picnic tables. Drinking water is not available, so you have to bring your own. In fact, plan to bring everything you need to stay for the duration of your camping trip. Also make arrangements for nighttime lighting as there is no electricity on site.
There is no dearth of exciting activities that you can enjoy as a camper in Navajo Flats. As already mentioned, the real fun on this campground is for off-road enthusiasts, those who ride ATVs, quad runners, etc. You have easy access to more than 40 miles of marked trails from your campsite. Once you reach the end of the rocky trail, you can engage in a host of activities like horse riding, hunting, fishing, and hiking. The Navajo Flats Campgrounds expects campers to adhere to a Leave No Trace policy. If your canine friend is accompanying you, make sure you carry poop bags.
Since Navajo Flats is basically for off-road driving experience, nearby attractions include hiking trails, mountain biking routes, forests, lakes, and even shopping outlets all within 30 miles of the campground. So come one, come all, and also bring Fido along!
