Amundsen Park in the Galewood community of Chicago is the pawrfect park for pet parents who want to walk their fur baby on level ground. Offering 14 acres of pawsome adventure for you and your pup, this park is sure to be a hit!
There are woofderful broad pathways running through Amundsen Park that are great for a stroll with your pup. These paths are even leveled with no steep inclines, so they are great for anyone who has a mobility problem or uses an electronic wheelchair. If you have an older dog who doesn't like too much strenuous exercise, this park is puptastic for them too.
Amundsen Park also features free streetside parking, and is mostly dedicated to sporting activities. It has numerous baseball, basketball and soccer fields, lots of volleyball and tennis courts, plus a splash pad feature for children, and is often quite busy in warm weather months. Be aware that pups aren't allowed on the sports fields or courts, but there are lots of other places for pooches to have a sniff at, such as lawned areas with lots of trees to explore. All doggoes do need to be kept on their leashes wherever they are within the park boundaries. The park's indoor fieldhouse is used as a club room for teenage sports teams, and there is a fully equipped gymnasium, for humans only.
When you go to Amundsen Park with your fur buddy, take enough mutt mitts as there are none in the park. Cleaning up pup deposits straight away helps keep the park clean for all. The drinking fountains in this park haven't been adapted for dogs to use, so be sure to take water or a bowl for your fur baby.
For an afternoon adventure, or just a quick stroll, check out the Amundsen Park!
