This area is not fenced in, so do not take your canine off-leash unless you know they will not run after the nearby traffic or bikers and that your canine has a reliable recall. As there is no fence, this is a co-mingled area meaning there is no separate section of this park for small breeds, toy dogs or puppies.
This can put them at a higher risk for injury as they play with canines much more massive than themselves. The Bay Village Dog Beach is also quite small. Games like fetch or frisbee could be quite limited as the traffic fills up the beach. The big upside to this dog park is the waterfront location.
Your canine is allowed to swim in Lake Erie from this beach location. There is no cost for parking here, nor is there any cost for access to the dog beach. As this dog park is more impromptu and not a city designated dog park, it lacks several of the amenities you might expect a local dog park to have.
Running water is not available here, and you will need to bring your own so you and your canine can stay hydrated unless you want them drinking out of the lake water. There are also no poop bags available at this location, and you will want to bring your own.
However, garbage cans are available at this dog park and are emptied regularly. This dog beach has close proximity to the highway making it ideal for those passing through town on that route. If your canine like to swim, then you will have a hard time finding a better place to enjoy some time in the sun.
