Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, situated between St. Helena and Calistoga, California, offers the best in outdoor vacation experiences for Fido and his family to enjoy. The rugged landscape of this natural park climbs in elevation from 300 to 2000 feet, making it an ideal spot for seasoned hikers. An area rich in geology and lush vegetation, Bothe-Napa Valley State Park affords families the opportunity to reconnect with the more rustic country life. 

Many wildlife species make Bothe-Napa Valley State Park their home. Visitors to the park can view squirrels, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, and many more different animals thriving in their natural habitat. Bird watchers will also delight in the plentiful variety of rare and unusual birds on display throughout the forested areas.

Though dogs are welcome in Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, their access is restricted to only the eating and camping sections. All dogs visiting the park must be leashed at all times. Dogs are prohibited from entering the hiking trails or the pool areas. For the safety of all pets, park officials require that dogs remain in a vehicle or tent during the nighttime hours, and they must be under the direct supervision of their owner at all times.

Bothe-Napa Valley State Park offers state of the art camping facilities. Visitors may choose from a cabin or a yurt for the ultimate in country charm or reserve a site specifically for their tent or RV. Showers are available on-site for an additional fee. Guests can also enjoy swimming in the park pool which is open during the summer months. The Visitors' Center, located near the main entrance, offers pamphlets outlining the property and detailing the different trails for families to explore. Other on-site attractions include the Native American Garden and the Pioneer Cemetery.

While dogs are not permitted on the trails in this state park, they are welcome to participate in on-lead walks throughout the campgrounds themselves. It is unknown of poop bags are provided; however, dog owners are expected to promptly remove and dispose of any canine waste materials to help preserve the park's cleanliness for all to enjoy.

There are no specific regulations regarding park use, but it is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations. It is also wise for dogs to bear the appropriate required state license tag. Bathrooms are available on-site for public use. There is also access to drinking water to help keep Fido and his family well-hydrated during visits to the park. 

Although there is a fee required to use the camping facilities, it is unknown if the park charges anything for a day's visit. Reservations are required for the camping sites, and it is suggested that reservations be made as early as seven months in advance to guarantee availability.
